Tuesday, August 29, 2006 it's good to be home. :) thank God we just missed the ernesto, but i hope the cubans are ok. it's going to take too long to recap, but a few things: - despite their circumstances, the cuban locals were incredibly genuine and friendly ppl - it was danged hot. it was buggy. i got sunburnt in the beginning and am now incredibly tanned (for ME) although i'm still pasty white compared to everyone else. - oh, and i also got sick. i still feel a bit off. :( tiffy doesn't tolerate heat well. - the beach was beautiful and we got to go snorkelling! but mostly, we lounged by the pool. - you've never experienced disney until you see a lip-synched performance of "be our guest" in german by a tall cuban man dressed as a candlestick. - wonderful, precious tacb time. <3 - oh yeah, and allison got married to drew. she is a married woman with a husband!!! (weird!!!!) ![]() ![]() i took almost 2 gigs worth of photos and videos, so expect to see selected stuff pop up on my flickr in the next week or so. :) posted @ 3:33:00 a.m.[] + + + Friday, August 18, 2006 ![]() i can't believe that we're leaving for cuba in just a few scant days. it still doesn't feel "real". it helps to further perpetuate this when i haven't really packed yet either. i mean, i've made a list, i've gathered some things, but i haven't actually put anything in a suitcase yet. in fact, as i type, i'm not even sure which suitcase i'm going to bring. nor what clothes to bring - my clothes are not mixy-matchy, making it difficult to be appropriately prepared and space efficient. right now, ALL of my clothes are folded right now in neat little bundles all over every available surface of the room - spread over my bed, my chair, and my desk. if there's one thing i hate ["just one?" the people ask :p ], it's packing. it's a good thing i'm staying in toronto for school and not in kingston b/c that would be an even greater headache. so.... cuba. and allison's wedding in less than a week. i'm not a sun/beach person at all, but i'm sure it'll be gorgeous. i've never been to cuba, much less a resort, and i *am* excited to see what they offer. sign me up for snorkelling, playing with the dolphins, and horseback riding! lessons on how to properly smoke a cigar like a cuban? i'm there! partying all night in party central, a.k.a. mine and benita's room? count me in! free all-you-can-eat buffets and a la carte restaurants? well, as long as i'm there... :p it's only for a week, so i'm determined to have fun and take as many pictures as i can. but i am going to miss certain people back home. :s posted @ 1:40:00 p.m.[] + + +

![]() ![]() ![]() [all pics lovingly donated by my dearest bun] posted @ 11:17:00 a.m.[] + + + Monday, August 14, 2006 the wedding shower went off without a hitch, thank goodness! man, allison's high school friends are a crazy bunch, but it definitely made the night more fun and interesting. heh. anyhow, the shirts came out well, the decorations looked great, the food was sooooo delicious (thanks, aunty tina!) and, despite mei trying to give her sister alcohol poisoning, the games were a lot of fun! phew! now we've just got to figure out what we need for cuba (less than one week! yikes!) and then we're set! does anyone have any suggestions or tips??? posted @ 11:43:00 a.m.[] + + + Tuesday, August 08, 2006 p.s. hey, does anyone have any suggestions for bridal shower games? thanks! posted @ 2:34:00 p.m.[] + + +
school hasn't even started yet, but i feel a premature freak-out coming on already. i feel like there are still so many things to do, obligations to fulfill, and ppl to see, but the window of opportunity to do all this is slowly dwindling. i feel all this pressure - not from anyone else, but from myself - and it's pushing in on me, constricting me. i feel panicky. and yet, it's not so dire or dramatic as perhaps i'm making it sound. it's just that, every once in a while, i wonder. i wonder what i'm doing with my life. i wonder what i'm meant to do. i wonder if i'll ever find anything that i can be passionate about. i wonder if i can find my own little place in the world. i wonder how i can make a difference. posted @ 2:20:00 p.m.[] + + + Thursday, August 03, 2006 read the excellent slate review. trust me on this one - it's the funniest movie i've seen in a long time, without being stupid/sitcom-y or pretentious. posted @ 11:03:00 p.m.[] + + + |
