Monday, October 24, 2005 AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! <-- not a sigh of contentment. school's going to be super-busy this week - gonna need boatloads of prayers, comforting words, and timmy's french vanillas... tuesday - "health systems in society" midterm from 9-11am (and then class from 11-7pm... BLAH) wednesday - professional practice lab with mock pt-counselling skills portion (need to know how to counsel on 9 different medications) thursday - biochem midterm 5-7pm <-- the one i'm most worried about this week friday - pharmaceutics lab #4 (ugh) i'm with ju on this one: dear Lord, please just let me pass this term. anyhow, so i'm now home... just finished off a bowl full of strawberries (in bunchkin's honour?) and am now commencing to CRAM for my midterm tmw. i am currently missing our final screwtape book club meeting, so i'm a little sad... (sniff sniff, that was my book choice too!) hrm, i hope we do narnia next. oh, and ames, i'm rather technologically challenged, so all i did to get the wav file of my 3-year old (?) self singing was just play the cassette tape on a stereo, fiddle with some knobs to decrease as much feedback as i could, and then recorded it on my mp3 player. and voila, baby tiff singing on the 'net! ok, really gotta run... :( wish me luck, guys. you know, you'd really think that after being a student (heh - i originally typed "stupid" instead of student... is my subconscious trying to tell me something?!) for 19 years, you'd think my study habits would improve. but sadly that is not the case... for some reason, i can't subsist on only a few hours' sleep these days. instead of pulling all-nighters or napping a little and then working through the night, i just sleep. period. :( must. do. well. (but atleast i've got more incentive to work hard now, yeah? ... unless i fail one year so that i can convocate the following year in 2009... :p ) p.s. michelle - wondering how i'm managing to do all this other stuff with all the school work that we've got from pharm? my response: not. very. well. :( (welcome to the blog, btw!) posted @ 7:47:00 p.m.[] + + + Sunday, October 23, 2005 posted @ 11:58:00 p.m.[] + + + Wednesday, October 19, 2005 after a long day of school, met up with iulia, hm, and dave to see the corpse bride. was an enjoyable movie ("shouldn't you be at home, prostrate with grief?"), even though the plot was a little thin. afterwards, had crepes which *i* thought were tasty (even if they weren't savoury), but some others didn't enjoy 'em as much. (i just chalk it up to only-childedness though. :p ) visited iulia's place (who was a lovely host, btw) and introduced her and hm to... dr j's street style - hall of fame! you guys have to seriously check this site out - nothing has made me laugh *that* hard in ages! it's pretty much a ghetto "hot or not" page for clothes and the best part of the comments the ppl leave on the low-rated outfits. the comments are so deliciously catty and some of the insults are so creatively hilarious that it's rather impressive. "mad u.g.l.y. that could make an onion cry" "when they say 'street style', they don't mean 'sleeping-on-the-streets' style! you look like a hobo-pirate!" most of the ppl are pretty serious about it, so you can get low marks for mixing designers, for not even mentioning any brand names in the description, and for not matching colours. "you have on maroon and your bandana is red... those are two different shades. and that ain't velour that's like crush velvet and its terrible". uh oh, it makes me wonder what serious street-style fashion infractions i have made in my lifetime. (i seem to recall once accidentally wearing floral track-pants -- with the little elastic that goes, not at the bottom, but across the bottom, of course-- backwards. the front of me felt awfully roomy. :p hey, it was elementary school and i didn't really care, either!) oh, and here's my personal favourite: "you get a 7 for clothes... minus 5 for making me sick... leaving you with 1." seriously, just go and gawk at the low-rated "fits". aiiight, i'm out. tmw: playing with syringes in lab! posted @ 9:08:00 p.m.[] + + + Monday, October 10, 2005 i have so much to be thankful for - friends and family - and that's precisely what made my long weekend so great these past few days! on saturday, i had a family dinner in markham (with the cousins, etc.) with leg of lamb, steak, and shirley temples! caught up with the queen's folks at grace's afterwards - it wasn't quite a burnfest, but it was still good seeing everyone. :) sunday night, we had another family dinner and then the cousins slept over! we played carcassonne and watched parts of america's sweethearts/a walk to remember/that dubbed japanese gameshow on spiketv until 3am... (mind you, our cousins are 7 and 12, respectively) had sooo much fun though. as a result of that night, i think i'm also going to take up my didgeridoo practicing again. though i doubt i'll ever be able to circular breathe, i think that i could eventually make those cool boingy sounds or something. i'd better get ready for a whole lotta light-headedness... (just like in my old, alto sax-playing days!) monday, minus a slightly stressfull/foolish-seeming incident at night, was a wonderful day. dave trekked it out to the 'burbs where we did a lot of walking around centennial and then took in serenity. was a decent movie - the best part was definitely jayne though. "do you really think any of us are getting out of here alive?" [looks around at everyone else] "well, *I* might." posted @ 9:47:00 p.m.[] + + + Saturday, October 08, 2005 posted @ 11:51:00 a.m.[] + + + Thursday, October 06, 2005 posted @ 8:13:00 p.m.[] + + + Wednesday, October 05, 2005 things are going alright in my life, but there's nothing like not seeing eye-to-eye with your parents that bring on the "i miss my own place" feelings. please pray for me that i won't act like a petulant child, but instead like a mature and respectful daughter. sigh. thanks for putting up with me. :s posted @ 11:26:00 p.m.[] + + + Sunday, October 02, 2005 the new best game ever - grow cube! it's been almost 2 years since ebru introduced me to the original grow game (which i *still* haven't been able to beat yet - i can get everything except for one measly item maxed out! grrr.) and i have my dear benita to thank for letting me know that there was a newer version of the game. and grow cube, my friends, is far more superior. what's the purpose of the game you ask? you drag items onto the cube and let them "grow" - if you do it in the right order, you'll max out all the items to the highest level and win the game. simple enough, but actually quite tricky. yes, i know this game sounds stupid and i know my explanation doesn't make any sense, but trust me: it'll suck you in! hehe, i introduced the game to dave and he couldn't do any work until he solved the game the next morning. :p posted @ 11:01:00 p.m.[] + + + Saturday, October 01, 2005 oooh! so it was pretty neat - for my first professional practice lab this week, we got to do some compounding!! so we ground up real drugs with a mortar and pestle and made capsules (special dosage forms) and a tutti frutti-flavoured suspension (pediatrics), so they were real drugs! very cool. pdl is creeping closer and closer now... the kick-off is tmw, in fact! i'm very excited and also quite nervous about leading, but i'm sure come friday when our group first meets up that everything will be alright. it'll be a blast having hanmin and iulia in my group, and i'm looking forward to getting to know jon wat and the beijing girls better too. (i hope i don't screw anything up! :s ) prayers for pdl (and me!) are most welcome. watched the second season premiere of VM today. i just have one word to say: LOGAN!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 (you better not be an ass anymore this season...) also: ames! we must discuss the show sometime when you're online :p ok, enough of this procrastinating... on to dinner! :D posted @ 6:47:00 p.m.[] + + + |
