you'll have to excuse me if this post is stupid, i still have a headache from yesterday.

last night, i saw troy with my parents. i've seen it before and though i didn't love the movie before (with the exception of poor, honourable hector) i figured, "what the heck, i might as well watch it again." i mean, the first time i saw the movie they forgot a pivotal reel and then randomly tacked it on again at the end. (yes, we got a free movie pass from the debacle.)

anyhow, upon this second viewing, i have to make this comment -- something that i'm sure has never been said before, something so earth-shattering that this may herald the end of the word -- "brad pitt got too much screentime in this movie."

as much as i love brad pitt (and i do!), achilles was a big jerk and really there's only so long you can put up with sketchy accents. plus, hector was just waaaaaaaay better. you suck, achilles!

it's rather sad watching the movie, knowing that the people you're cheering for (troy) are doomed. i've been re-reading the last battle for this thursday's book club meeting and it's so terrible to read of the destruction of narnia and its people. to read of those who turn their backs on their own people, those with self-imposed blindness and darkness, and those poor, good people cruelly and injustly slaughtered by others. these sad events occur through most of the book (atleast three-quarters of it) and yet this is one of my favourites of c.s. lewis' chronicles. despite the death of narnia - which really is excruciating and almost unbearable to read - it only takes a few sentences of lewis' description of heaven for the sting to go away. it all pales in comparison. i wonder what the real heaven will be like...

oh, so went to the sweets expo on saturday with dave. was a little disappointing b/c there weren't that many booths (it's their first year, i think) and many unrelated booths hawking "eye-candy" jewelry, eggs, make-up, fruitE juice (complete with DDR set-up), and lines of credit?! but there were lots of free samples like chocolates and cotton candy... yum! not-so-yummy were the "amped up" balls that were supposedly equal to downing half a red bull. those things were cherry and fudge and oh-so-vile... blech.

the highlight of the afternoon: there was a fashion show featuring gumballs, licorice, candy canes, etc. one piece of candy fell off an outfit and was kicked off the catwalk by a man who was worried somebody would trip on it. this little girl comes running up immediately after, picks the candy off the ground and has it poised to put in her mouth... when she looks up to see a stranger admonishing her for picking up candy of the ground. awww. the kid then drops the candy and walks off dejectedly. i swear, it was the funniest thing i've seen in a long time. i kept trying to convince dave to drop candy on the ground in her vicinity so we could record the whole thing on his digital camera, but he refused. party pooper!
