i'm back from ottawa and montreal!!! :)
we got back monday in the late afternoon (but then decided to watch the awesome willy wonka movie and eat at master steaks <3 before heading home). gotta say that even though it's nice being home (especially since the two-toned brown mini-minivan's been replaced by a volvo), i really wish we could've stayed longer on the trip. it was so much fun - the places we visited were beautiful, the weather was gorgeously not humid, and the company was wonderful... what more could i have asked for? (besides less couche-tards driving around in montreal - they're nuts out there!)

ummm... there's no way i could really do the trip justice, but i'll blog if i think of anything of note that happened on the trip...

oh, here's the basic itinerary of the trip:
friday - drove out east and had lunch/explored in my beloved kingston <3 (only beloved now b/c i don't go there anymore... it's all warm and fuzzy memories these days, no more cursing qcard! heh.), frantically detoured around closed roads to find a gas station (our chevy impala was a total gas guzzler), arrived in ottawa later on and explored the canal and the downtown area...

guys, i take back everything bad i said about ottawa before - it's such a nice city! i thought that it would be boring - all i really recalled of ottawa before was from one of my childhood agape trips where i was bored out of my gourd visiting all the museums and parliament buildings... but seriously, i didn't realise that it was such a nice place to walk around at night! it's clean, pretty, and there are enough people around for you to feel safe, but not crowded. i'm definitely coming back sometime and staying for a longer period! oh, and the next time i go, i'm totally going to that place where that restaurant/dessert place had all those people smoking hookahs... the air smelled like cotton candy! yum! :)

saturday - explored around ottawa in the morning some more (parliament, sussex, etc.) and then drove to montreal... never in my life have i ever seen such driving and reckless pedestrianism! :p seriously man, we were cut off by other motorists, buses, cyclists, and even this one rollerblader who came down the center line, cut us off, and then ran the red light! i wonder how many car accidents they have in that city each year... though once you get the hang of it, it's kinda fun - "you don't have to choose a lane! there aren't even any lines in this stretch! let's just take up both!" anyway, we arrived in montreal, dropped our stuff at the concordia res, and then spent the evening walking around old montreal (but not before spending, like, an hour searching for parking)

oh, it's almost midnight - i've got an appointment ;) i'll blog more later, ok guys?
[in the next post: the grossness of the suzuki ppl at concordia, days 3 and 4, how we've turned into our parents... stay tuned!]
