back in k-town now...

ok, so i did end up going to the phoenix with erin, liz, and rolo last night. the music was alright - not outstanding, but had enough good songs interspersed throughout that it was generally fun. plus we got to see spike and ben! hahaha, we're all such big nerds... :p but yeah, it was fun seeing rolo, there was a lot of eye candy, i was introduced to the yumminess that is an amaretto sour, and i got to see erin's fa-lame-ing hair! the only downsides were the extreme smokiness and the fact that these environments are not kind on short people... let's just say that i got jostled around a lot, and there were a lot of, um, chests at my head level... yeah. :p

hey, so you know what i found out? there are buses that run all-night long when the subway shuts down... liz and i actually returned from yonge-bloor at 3am all the way back to the blockbuster by my house on the same bus! i think it had previously been dubbed the vomit express or something along those lines... hahaha. but yeah, it goes along the bloor-danforth line all across town in the wee hours of the night, ending in etobicoke. very helpful, if you ask me.

today was missions sunday at cpc... the speaker, bob morris, was quite interesting ("galileeans were the newfies of the middle east") and the acts drama was good. (go megan and iulia!) after church, went with my favourite family (the chans!) to lunch... always great to see uncle fred, aunty irene, and jenne! then came home, packed a bit, and watched proof of life with my parents. it was a pretty decent movie, and it is really sad to think that those things really do happen to people in real life.

so yeah, my parents almost got into a serious accident yesterday just a few feet away from my house. we live right by a curve on a small suburban street, and my parents were just coming home from grocery shopping when some other car comes tearing across the curve. what happened was that the other car was going ridiculous fast on this small street and as it was rounding the bend, it swerved to miss a parked car and failed to see my parents coming in the opposite direction. luckily my dad saw the other car and just managed to swerve his car out of the way, so our car just got a few minor scratches at the side. i think the other driver was trying to stop suddenly right afterwards, but since it was really slippery outside and he was going really fast, he rammed right into a tree. thank God he wasn't hurt, but his car, a brand new rented 2004 ford explorer was completely totalled. i mean, completely wrecked. even one of the tires flew off in the impact - it's a miracle that nobody got hurt. honestly, at his speed, if he had hit my parents head on... i'm not sure what exactly happened after that, but the guy was actually arrested and taken away in cuffs. apparently he lived on our street (there go our neighbourhood relations... :( ) and he left the accident scene to go home and drink (more?) and then refused to come out later. yeah. isn't it great how the world is full of responsible drivers? sigh. i'm glad that atleast the other guy wasn't hurt though.
